RECYCLING OLD SHINGLES
In 2012, the Northeast Recycling Council estimated that 10 million tons of asphalt shingles are removed from roofs every year, with the majority of those loads ending up in landfills across the country. The good news is that for less than the cost of landfill disposal, asphalt shingles can be recycled into asphalt, aggregate and other valuable materials used to pave and repair roads.
Truline Roofing believes that roofing contractors in Charlotte and around the country can easily “go green” and help reduce environmental impact by recycling this resource. We’re proud to be part of the GAF Certified Green Roofer Program, designed in consultation with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). truline and other GAF Certified Green Roofers have completed USGBC training and committed to recycling shingles, metal and other materials from our job sites. You can be assured if truline is installing your residential roof or commercial roof project that all of the torn off shingles will be recycled.

How It Works
Shingle recycling has become increasingly convenient, with recycling locations now accessible to nearly 50 percent of the U.S. population. The process starts when truline and other roofing contractors deliver used shingles to a local drop-off center, where they are processed and converted into asphalt used to pave streets and highways around the country. In addition, we report recycling of shingles, metal and other materials to the GAF Certified Green Roofer Program.
